If I am against Assad, it doesn’t mean I am with…

A simple explanation for simple minded pro dictatorships people.

If I am against Assad, it doesn’t mean I am with Daesh nor any form of regressive Islamist forces in Syria. (And by the way, you have a MULTITUDE of sides in Syria).

If I am against Assad, it doesn’t mean I support the USA nor Israel. It doesn’t mean I stand with American imperialism. Nor with its involvement in Syria. (very limited compared to the Russian “invitation”).

If I am against Assad, it doesn’t mean I support Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and UAE. It doesn’t mean I support Erdogan. It doesn’t mean I support the Saudi onslaught on Yemen. It doesn’t mean I support the Saudi invasion of Bahrain.

Chris Riddel cartoon.

If I am against Hezbollah invasion of Syria, it doesn’t mean I do not stand with the right of self-determination in Palestine, it doesn’t mean I am a Zionist.

If I am against Hezbollah invasion of Syria, it doesn’t mean I want peace with Israel.

If I am against Assad, it means that I am with the downfall of all dictatorships and dynasties. The dynasties of the gulf, and the dictatorships of the world, including Iran and Russia. And hey, no, it doesn’t mean I love the system in US and other parts of the world.

Go on, treat me as an Arab traitor, treat me and condemn me with your simple and unjust perception of the world. I will always stand with oppressed Syrians under the repressive regime of Bashar el Assad and regressive factions, and I will always stand with the oppressed Palestinians under the repressive Zionist colonial state.

I do not need your approvals nor your sad strategy of “resistance”.

Israel and USA are still best friends (despite it all)

Israel will receive the long expected 10 year pact military aid offered by the US.

The US administration military aid  Israel is an all-time record, Israel will at least receive $38 billions over the next 10 years. Israel will get at least $3.8 billion a year, up from $3.1 billion it is currently receiving under the current deal that expires in 2018.

Israel has made so-called concessions. Netanyahu initially sought $4.5 billion a year and Israel agreed not to seek and lobby the American congress for further missile defense funds during the 10 years pack. The latter “concession” is likely to be flexible, according to Reuters, as Israel could lobby the US during wars or other major crisis. In other words, when Israel is relentlessly bombing the besieged Gaza strip or Lebanon, Israel can receive a boost from the US, besides the record annual military aid.

The 10 years deal helps immensely Israel. The country will continue to receive a subsequent military aid regardless of the next US president and his or her policy on Israel.

The aid shows and proves that last year “tense” relationship between Obama and Netanyahu wasn’t enough to shake up and undermine Israel and US special relationship. Netanyahu visited the congress in March 2015 and expressed his strong opposition to the Iran deal in a speech praised with 26 standing ovations from congressmen and women. The speech was boycotted by dozens of Democrats. Netanyahu visited the congress after a Republican invitation that bypassed the White House authority. Obama refused to meet Netanyahu.

The US and Israel are still best friends despite last year cold confrontation between Obama and Netanyahu. The catchphrase “Follow the money” has never been more meaningful.

Obama legacy won’t be the disastrous Nobel Peace Prize he received for “ending” the occupation of Iraq, nor the Iran deal. His “legacy” will be directly felt by millions of people in the Middle-East, from (at least) 2018 to 2028, when Israel and American bombs will be dropped on their heads.

Why is the Middle East so prone to conspiracy theories.

It is the new insult. “You’re just a conspiration theorist!, Think!”

I have a theory on why we, the Middle Eastern people, (Arabs and non-Arabs, Muslim and non-Muslim) have so much ease with calling every new terrorist group the work of the USA administration and CIA. It has pushed some Arabic channels to claim that Hillary Clinton admitted to have created IS. (Which is completely untrue) etc.
IS and the general turmoil was born directly because of US presence in Iraqi soil but it was not their creation.

But why are we so quick to call the American government the doer of everything evil in the Middle East? Because USA and CIA have so much directly mingled in foreign governments and affairs that it is almost the first reaction we have.

Here’s an exhaustive list of every direct involvement of CIA and co.

Syria 1949.
Iran 1953
Guatemala 1954
Tibet 1955-1970.
Indonesia 1958
Cuba 1959
Iraq 1960-1963
Democratic Republic of Congo 1960-1965
Dominican Republic 1961
South Vietnam 1963
Brazil 1964
Ghana 1966
Chile 1970-1973
Argentina 1976
Afghanistan 1979-1989
Turkey 1980
Nicaragua 1981-1990
Iraq 1992-1996
Venezuela 2002
Iran 2005-Present
Syria 2012-Present

That’s without counting the direct interventions here and there. US and their coalition interventionism in the Middle East has killed more than 4 millions of people since 1990.

After the fall of empires, a new strategy needed to be implemented. Emperors/Presidents couldn’t just invade countries and cut the heads of the subjugated leaders. So they install heads of government they like and topple the ones they don’t like.

Next time someone tells you that you’re just crazy, tell him okay, maybe, but just show him this list and remind him that you won’t be super confident with regimes that killed 4 millions people in 25 years…

Chapel Hill Shooting : An atheist terrorist murders three innocent Muslims.

Hours ago, three Muslims college Student have been shot dead “execution-style” by a man in the USA. The newspapers in US didn’t give any attention to this or very little. I learned the story like many, on Twitter. Here is a picture of them.

A lot of people on Twitter like the profile @WeTeachlifeSir_ have condemned the US newspapers of no coverage, not outrage about this hate murder.

As you can see on those pictures, no story about the victims, no words. It seems the “People” news are more important than this.

Is this a double-standard from those newspapers ?

Let’s imagine another scenario ; one when a so-called Muslim extremist kills three young innocent white persons. Do you really imagine that no news will break out the minute it happens ? Do you really think that all of the media outlets will shut up about this for so long ? I condemn those who think and show that the blood of three innocent Muslims killed cowardly is lighter than the blood of three innocent Christians killed by a so called “Islamists”. I’m not making this about religion, but there is a clear fact out here : those murders are not BREAKING newsworthy because the killer is not a “terrorist”.

But is he not a terrorist ?

Twitter (again) showed who really was this killer, the images he posted on Facebook before the executions or even his wish list on Amazon that contained scopes of snipers and camouflage outfits. His name is Craig Hist and he will be of course in the eyes of the “good” Media : a single lone wolf or a “deranged person”. He will never be called out a terrorist… because he’s white.

Here are some of his views exposed on his Facebook Personal Page.

It is clear that Craig Hist is full of prejudice and hate, he is an atheist who believe he has the right to retaliate and insult religion it if he’s been insulted. Of course he means by religion here Islam.
I wonder how Craig Hist was insulted from those three Muslims. Was it the Hijab ? Was it the fact that they were peaceful Muslims and he didn’t like it ? Here’s the twitter profile of one of the victims, Deah Barakat. Did Craig Hist take a look at this? Did he see the multiple retweets of funny vines ? The posts about his passion for American football ? Maybe he got insulted because of Barakat cover picture showing al Quds Mosque? Or did he even see that Barakat called for donation for Syrian refugees ? How dangerous and insulting is Barakat !

Remember Bill Maher lame claim that Islam is a violent religion ? Should we say that Atheism is a violent non-religion ? No we will not. Why ? First, violence has no religion (the irony) and two, we actually have brains.

What’s terrorism ?

It’s “the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.” I don’t see where in this definition a terrorist must be an Arab or a Muslim. Answer is, he must not. Terrorism can be applied to everybody. It is not limited to organisations, even “lone wolves” can be called terrorists. So let’s call Craig Hist what he really is : a terrorist.

When you kill innocent Muslims because you are an Islamophobe. It is terrorism.

Hamas off the EU terror list ; Cuba and USA Bff’s

EU removed Hamas from its “terror list” because it causes the EU “procedural” problems, it comes after a vote to recognize the Palestinian state and the two-state solution. It is in fact technical and have no real consequences yet.

The court added in a statement that Wednesday’s decision to remove Hamas from the EU’s blacklist was based on procedural errors and did “not imply any substantive assessment of the question of the classification of Hamas as a terrorist group”.

Now of course, Bibi Netanyahu was very pissed off, how could the EU do that ? Are they antisemitic or something ? He was not satisfied because this move may actually help develop peace ! Not that I support the two-state solution.

The two-state solution omits completely the Palestinian refugees that fled their homes during the Nakba, a lot of these homes are in present-day Israel. And Israel keeps colonizing the West Bank by a rate never achieved before, in fact, Netanyahu has confiscated more land than previous prime ministers.
Hamas applauded the removal. Who likes to be called a terrorist ? Israel doesn’t when it bombs civilian homes…but hey !

On the other side of the Atlantic ocean, USA and Cuba have had a historic rapprochement.

The two neighbor states have tensions since 1960 after Castro revolution and the fall of Batista.

Cuba have been under a heavy embargo since 50 years. It’s no surprise that Obama called the “isolation” a failure. Because it is. US will soon have an embassy built in Cuba, but it seems that Cuba didn’t decide yet to do the same ; I couldn’t find it in all these reports. Weird.

A lot of US residents are applauding the reconciliation that were marked with prisoners exchange. Some cite the economic benefits, others a new “Spring Break Destination”. Guevara must be turning in his grave.

The involvement of the Pope Francis surprised me, the latter facilitated the tense relations, sending letters to USA and Cuba Leaders. Oh and Happy birthday Pope Francis.

What is the difference between Death Penalty and Drones Strikes. [Opinion]

Defining the Death Penalty.

The Death Penalty or Capital punishment is a legal process when a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. Death Penalties must occur after the accused face a just court. The accused person is punished after concluded that he is the perpetrator of the alleged crime.

The Death Penalty must then be applied in a predefined and installed “just” system. A set of laws that indiscriminately judge people in Justice and Fairness. In Justice, all men must face legal courts and a judgment before being punished. All men have the right to claim they are falsely accused and prove the accuser is wrong.

I really stress on the All men, yes, even Ben Laden or Hitler. Personally, I wish they faced Justice before being punished, even when it is a fact than Ben Laden conducted 9/11, even when it is a fact that Hitler led to awful massacres in WW2. That is justice. All men are equal before the law all man must face just and legal action based on a fair set of laws.

Death Penalty and War.

But what about war ? Is it legal or fair to kill a person before he is judged ? Let’s imagine a small scene.

A group of armed man enter your neighborhood with a clear goal to destroy it and kill. They begin to fire, you and your neighbors take weapons and kill them all.

In this previous scenario is killing a person “death penalty” ? Not really, it is a direct act of self-defense. The Armed men were going to kill you, so you decided that you are going to kill them first. So in a state of war, when faced to a direct lethal threat or attack, you respond and kill without really facing prison.

That’s the whole debate here. The difference between threat and factual attack. The difference between a very well defined threat or a probable threat.

Are drones strikes considered to be conducted in a state of war ?

I said previously that in a state of war you could act in self-defense and kill without facing prison. But is killing alleged terrorists considered as an act of war, in a state of war ? Pro “war on terrorism” will come and say : “yes, it is a war against terrorists that pose a direct threat to the Security of USA and the world so it is legitimate to kill those terrorists”. But what if they aren’t direct ? (Here again define direct threat), Will they be able to conduct terrorists acts in USA ? When ? How?

Those are questions that should be answered.

Personally, I think that drones strikes aren’t considered to be acts of a state of war. Those that are preparing an act of terror in USA or anywhere else in the world, didn’t act yet. Of course we must not wait until they act to judge them or stop them. Those terrorists will try to find ways to destroy USA and their enemies. But destroying them before judging them is dangerous. It is better to stop them and judge them and put them in jail [or face death penalty]. Today it is highly possible with Interpol and the international police force. In fact, it is way more instructive to understand why they want to attack America and their allies. This only could end the endless conflict against terrorists.

So what is the difference between death penalty and drones strikes to my opinion ?

Drones strikes are unjust because they happen 1) before the crime of the alleged terrorist and 2) before he is judged.| Death penalty is an act of justice whereas drones strikes are unjust death penalties.

PS : What I have said in this article doesn’t make me pro-terrorist or pro-death penalty. But it does make me anti-drones strikes.

Will USA bombardments stop “IS” ? (“Islamic State”)

I consider myself as an anti-interventionist.  I don’t want “boots on the ground” nor intervention. Simply because it led to more chaos, more deaths, more hatred. US, the only so-called superpower in the world, is the master of intervention.

It is very important to say that being against an intervention does not mean being with the government the interventionist want to fall.

Example : Being anti-interventionist in Iraq 2003 does not mean being pro-Saddam. Look at France.

Being anti-interventionist in Syria 2013 does not mean being pro-Assad.

These examples may sound naive, but the number of people I’ve seen blaming everyone to be pro-Assad because they were against an intervention is huge.

Of course I was happy when Saddam fell, but I was not happy when I saw that the bombs were killing mostly civilians. And in fact, the weapons of massive destruction never existed, it was just an excuse to finish Saddam.

Iraq chaos have not created Al Qaeda and terrorism, but it led them in the country for sure and it also led to bloody instability. Saudi Arabia terrorist Wahhabits began to flow into the country, to blow themselves up and join Paradise in their views.

Years later, US left Iraq, but before leaving, they trained and armed the Iraqi army. As soon as USA left Iraq, an Iraqi insurgency began. Some Sunnis of the country were malcontent of the Shi’ite-led government. Again, more violence, more hatred and chaos. Maliki, the Shi’ite prime minister, left his seat after Iran and USA advised him. This move were to appease the insurgency. But in fact, it is too late.

“ISIS” have become a “state” with or without a Shia Prime Minister, and I am certain that the group won’t step down after seeing a Sunni Leader. ISIS have grown, fed itself from the chaos in Syria, and now promise war to the United States and Europe.

US began strikes against IS, not because they fear a massacre from IS, but because they have  interests in Erbil, a city not far from Mosul.  IS have massacred well before the US bombardments, and it will continue their massacre, their ethnic cleansing after the bombs.

If US strikes finish them off, (that is doubtful), what’s the plan after this ? I see no real plan, and please, if you have a link, share it.

With no real plan, IS and terrorism will re-organize, re-exist. The hatred against USA will grow, and the strikes will be very useful for the “Islamic State” propaganda.

Nonetheless, I am supporting US bombardments for multiple reasons.

1) IS needs to be stopped, their expansion is very dangerous and is already destroying Middle East Culture and minorities.

2) If they are not slowed down, this expansion will continue, Baghdad may fall. More chaos.

3) IS is killing innocents.

I will not support a military ground operation or intervention.

And as soon as the bombs are killing mostly civilians, my support will end.

Is D-Day that Heroic ?

Michel Collon is one of the few journalists I truly admire, anti-imperialist and anti-interventionist, I love the stands he takes and answers two values, truth and justice. That’s why he is so polemic. Oh and he wrote about the myth of D-Day, 6th June 1944, when the USA military invaded Europe from France’s Normandy, well you know the History.

“History is written by the winners” Yes it is, and WW2 is a true example.

Did you know that Henry Truman said in 1941 : “If Germany wins, we should help Russia and if Russia wins, we must help Germany, so that the deaths in both sides stay high.”

General Motors and Ford supplied the Germans with trucks, and Esso made sure the trucks were full of oil. Yes, USA won money out of the war.

I am not implying this, historian Jacques Pauwels talks about it in his book : Le mythe de la bonne guerre : Les Etats-Unis et la Deuxième guerre mondiale. Or, The Myth of the “Good War” : The United States and the World War Two.

Keep in Mind, Hitler lost 90% of his soldiers in the East, and Stalingrad was the battle that changed everything.

The West hypocritical relations with Saudi Arabia.

Obama-Saudi

I have always found the relations between the United States, its allies with Saudi Arabia  highly hypocritical.

United States is the master when it speaks for freedom, equality, rights. It is the first country to condemn violations of human rights etc. It’s beautiful words, addressed only to those who are not benefiting the United States.

Let’s take a look at Saudi Arabia regime and give a few examples.

  • The World knows that Saudi Arabia bans driving for Woman, one was sentenced to 10 lashes because she did not respect the ban.

Every Woman has a male guardian, she cannot, without the permission of this male guardian, travel, work, go to school or get medical treatment, it also bans them from sport. It even installed a system that alerted the male guardian with an sms when the woman “under his control” left the country.

Did the United said something about it ? Did it condemn it ? No.

  • To give you another crazy story.

In 2013 a “cleric” has raped and tortured his 5 year-old daughter because he has doubted her virginity… he was imprisoned..and released few days ago.

Al-Ghamdi, however, has now been released as “blood money and the time the defendant had served in prison since Lama’s death suffices as punishment” a judge ruled, according to Albawaba News.

  • Another one, this one is recent and funny.

The very serious Saudi Interior Ministry have released a statement to back the chaos and the terrorist threat, it banned very dangerous names !

Some names on the list are allegedly banned by the interior ministry because they are considered “blasphemous,” non-Arabic or non-Islamic, or contradictory to the kingdom’s culture or religion, Gulf News has reported.

The ban was also allegedly justified by the ministry because some of the names were deemed foreign or “inappropriate”.

This is the friend of the United States in the Middle East.

  • Let’s get back to more serious cases.

Bahrain has known popular uprising since 2011, back when “the Arab Spring” began. The protests were severely reprimanded, and human crimes happened. The Bahrain government used systematic torture (page 219) and other forms of physical and psychological abuse on detainees. Remind you of another regime highly condemned by the West ? No ? Syria! The Bahrain government called the “help” of 1000 Saudi troops. Faint condemnations from the West.

  • Finally, controversies happen within the kingdom itself.

The “king” himself is imprisoning his daughters in a house, really shocking story. And it’s not rumors, his ex-wife said that she did not see her children for over 10 years.

The list is exhaustive, endless, the previous examples are a fragment of the atrocities, the repressions that happen in Saudi Arabia. I have not talked about SA involvement in terrorism with Syria.

No real condemnation from the United States, from the EU, how can you criticize your oil provider ? (watch Palmes d’or Fahrenheit 9/11)

Well known non-government organizations like Amnesty International and Humans Right Watch condemns the kingdom.

To end the story,  Prince Charles visited Saudi Arabia few weeks ago, he participated in the traditional Saudi Arabian Sword dance. How does SA apply the capital punishment ? Beheading by sword, in public.
