You don’t have to be the most compassionate and altruistic human being to understand the injustice in Palestine in general and the despair and plight of those who live in Gaza in particular.
The Data here doesn’t explain the political context of the war, but it does reveal one component of the zionist ideology : Ethnic cleansing and psychological war.
A child who is 7 years old today has lived through three wars, and every war was worse than the previous one. The last one killed more than 550 children and has put hundred of thousands under heavy traumatic stress. In Israel, a child was killed by the unguided rockets of the resistance in Gaza.
Save the Children, an NGO, brought up the data in a report: 70% of children in Gaza have nightmares, 89% of the parents reported that their children leave in a constant fear, 75% of children usually wet their beds.
30% of children feel listlessness and a lack of motivation, 50% have a fear of attending school, and 20% of children isolate and withdraw themselves.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition is a group of activists that work peacefully for the end of the Gaza Blockade.
Activists, from various backgrounds and nationalities, were aboard the ship called Marianne. Marianne is a symbol of liberty in France, but Marianne, the ship, weren’t free to anchor in Gaza, Palestine.
It was hijacked by the Israeli Navy in International Waters. Israel forces a blockade over the Palestinian people in Gaza. Palestinians have not the right to move in and out of Gaza and Israel ensures that Gaza is impoverished by the blockade.
At 02:06AM today (Gaza time) the “Marianne” contacted Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and informed us that three boats of the Israeli navy had surrounded her in international waters, while sailing approximately 100NM from Gaza coast. After that we lost contact with the “Marianne” and at 05:11AM (Gaza time) the IDF announced that they had “visited and searched” Marianne. They had captured the boat and detained all on board “in international waters” as they admitted themselves. The only positive content in the IDF announcement was that they still recognize that there is a naval blockade of Gaza, despite Netanyahu’s government recent denial that one exists.
Netanyahu quickly claimed after Marianne’s seizure, in an Orwellian lie, that “there were not a blockade against Gaza.”
The ship arrest proves obviously otherwise, and it carries a message: Gaza must be free and the illegal blockade must stop.
The effects of the Gaza blockade enforced by Israel are destructive. The siege is keeping Gaza from building a single house from the latest war, literally. Israel has killed more than 2200 persons, including more than 550 children, in the summer of 2014 during “Protective Edge”.
It is not the first time the Freedom Flotilla is arrested by the Israeli military. In 2010, a raid against one of its ships killed 9 Turkish activists.
67 years later, the oppression of the Palestinian people by the Zionist entity of Israel hasn’t stopped, the displacement hasn’t stopped, the killings haven’t stopped, the massacres continue, human rights are violated. People watch the apartheid of Israel, the wall still stands, the “advanced” democracies of the world support it, they applaud the newly reelected Prime Minister, Netanyahu. They wish him good luck and congratulate him, good luck to a killer of more than 500 children in Gaza.
Nakba day last year resulted with the killing of two teenagers, their crimes? Being Palestinians that dared to stand up against the Zionist regime of Israel.
The Palestinians of Gaza are collectively punished in the worst blockade. Palestinians of West Bank are oppressed with raids to arrest children that threw rocks. Rocks are scary, rocks are far more dangerous than “intelligent” missiles according to the most moral army of the world, the “IDF”.
The land is being stolen, colonies are decided and built, illegally of course, despite the condemnations of nations. These nations are very good at condemning Israel and then saluting it.
And yet Palestine will remain, it remains in the hearts of Palestinians and in every conscious heart. The conscious knows the crimes of Israel, shouts at Israel, denounces Israel and does what he can to fight Israel. The conscious knows that injustice will end one day. He knows that the walls of oppression will be destroyed. He knows that the men and women behind the apartheid will face Justice, not amnesty. He knows that peace between Jews and Muslims in Palestine-Israel can exist without racism and hatred.
The resistant fights Israel with arms or peacefully. He Boycotts, Divests and Sanctions Israel. The moment money flows into the apartheid system of Israel, it hurts Palestinians. Every artist that plays in Israel normalise Israel. Every item sold outside Israel normalise its child labor use. Every time someone buys an Israeli product from an Israel company, he says yes to its crimes, especially when the product has been made illegally inside the West Bank.
Knesset, Netanyahu, his predecessors, his racist government, those who threaten to kill children and who already did, will have to face justice.
If you wanted a proof that Israel doesn’t really care about killing children, you have it here.
The Israeli defence minister said the following in a conference in Jerusalem :
“we are going to hurt Lebanese civilians to include kids of the family. We went through a very long deep discussion … we did it then, we did it in [the] Gaza Strip, we are going to do it in any round of hostilities in the future.”
In the last onslaught on Gaza, the so called IDF “managed” to kill 2257 Palestinians. OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) claimed that 70% were civilians, including more than 500 Palestinian children. Today, more than 370,000 children in Gaza requires psychological support. Many of them, not 10 years old, have already witnessed three devastating wars, in 2009-2010, in 2012 and in 2014.
Israel ministers have never been so open about killing civilians. Moshe Yaalon, the defence minister, admits that Israel purposely target civilians. Is it to “defend” themselves? Defence, it seems, is about the extermination of whole families. The “IDF” killed 25 members of the same family Abu Jamaa in a single strike last summer.
To put the cherry on the cake, Netanyahu, Israel’s PM, appointed Ayelet Shaked to be the next Minister of Justice. Shaked infamously called for a genocide against Palestinians, including mothers and children, whom she portrayed as “little snakes”. What a team.
To systematically kill children or to call for a genocide are war crimes, you don’t need to be a lawyer to understand that. Moshe Yaalon must be tried and condemned in front of the International Criminal Court, just like Netanyahu, Olmert and all their teams.
“They told us: ‘There aren’t supposed to be any civilians there’.”
“If you shoot someone in Gaza it’s cool, no big deal. First of all, because it’s Gaza, and second, because that’s warfare.”
Every time Israel boasts about its army being the most “moral” in the world, remember those words.
Every time countries and Israel cry about the “right to defend itself”, ask yourself: “from whom? Children?”
The Gaza strip, blockaded by sea and land, is barely breathing 8 months after the Israeli onslaught. Operation “Protective Edge” killed 2300 people, including more than 500 children, and destroyed infrastructure like electric plants, civilians houses, schools and even hospitals.
The reports adds that “Six months since donors pledged $3.5 billion towards Gaza’s recovery, many people are worse off and not a single one of the 19,000 destroyed homes has been rebuilt. 100,000 people are still homeless and many are living in makeshift camps or schools”
Israel has violated the so called ceasefire four hundreds of times when only 4 rockets have been fired into Israel in retaliation.
Omar, a Palestinian living in Gaza, tweeted a shocking reminder.
To those who have lost interest about Gaza because the war ended months ago, I say this:
Foreign Policy, in a frightening report, presented the dreadful conditions in Gaza.
Electricity is scarce: Most Gaza residents are surviving on just three to six hours of power a day. The water in the taps is salty, because seawater from the Mediterranean has infiltrated the sole coastal aquifer — according to the AIDA report, 95 percent of the territory’s water supply is unfit for human consumption. And because the sewage plants aren’t functioning properly, thousands of cubic meters of waste are openly flowing onto the beaches.
“Gaza was under bombs, now it’s under rubble” “Nothing has changed, as the time has stopped in Gaza in this wasteland”, reports Shaima Ziara from Gaza. Watch the alarming report below.
Foreign Policy adds that the damage is not only material but psychological.
Over 400,000 children — who are sufferingthe cumulative effects of multiple wars — are thought to have severe shellshock, and many of them are heavily medicated.
During last winter, 5 children died of cold due to the disastrous infrastructure and the subsequent absence of heating systems.
Israel has bombed and destroyed Gaza three times in six years.
Israel today remembers the Holocaust, while the Knesset and the Israel government are slowly killing Palestinians in a modern Warsaw Ghetto.
Despite all of Israel’s flagrant human rights violations and crimes, it condemned the decision of the International criminal court (ICC) to open a preliminary probe into possible war crimes committed against Palestinians. The United States of America, main ally of Israel, also condemned the decision by calling it “a tragic Irony”.
This week, it has been reported that Netanyahu received 90% of his last 3 campaign money from US donors, Buzzfeed, the first publisher of these facts, linked the families with their businesses.
Here’s an excerpt.
Closely following them were the Book family of New Jersey, owners of Jet Support Systems, with four members each contributing $11,000 each, and the Schottenstein family, owners of the American Eagle fashion chain, whose four members donated $10,000 each.
American Eagle is present worldwide and in Lebanon.
It means that our Lebanese pounds directly go to the Shottenstein family pockets. (or through royalties) This money goes back to Netanyahu campaigns, and he doesn’t even have to ask !
“He doesn’t even have to ask and they give,” said one Likud Party campaign adviser, who asked not be named as he was not approved to speak to the media. “Their pocketbooks are always open for Netanyahu.”
For those who don’t know, Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel, has in less than 3 years, launched two wars against the already blockaded Gaza. By War I mean indiscriminate areal bombings against civilians, notably during his last war “Protective Edge” where his “brave” democratic army managed to slaughter 500 children.
Should we wait for Netanyahu to launch a war against Lebanon to start boycotting those brands ? Or should we, as citizens of conscience and ethics, fight peacefully against the Israel apartheid ?
I have seen a reaction on Twitter : the person claimed that we should not care about American Eagle, their income wouldn’t shrink considering their worldwide presence, and oh, we should first elect a president ! I don’t know if he has a list of “to-do’s” where he must first checked off the election of a Lebanese president and after that, stand against the vile Netanyahu ?
I guess he thinks that the boycott and BDS mouvement don’t work, but he is very wrong. He must read this list that show explicit advances against Apartheid in Israel for 2014. Here’s the link.
I have also written a call for the boycott of three other active firms in Lebanon, HP, Caterpillar, and Re/Max, the latter is a world-wide real estate company that sell exclusively for Jews in East Jerusalem, illegally occupied since 1967.
I hope American Eagle will at least lose revenues in Lebanon.
How do you combat Israeli Apartheid peacefully ? How can you help Palestinians inside and outside of Palestine grasp a bit of hope for their future ? Boycott. Divest. Sanction. BDS.
I won’t speak about Starbucks, McDonald’s, Pepsi, this rock band that will probably go to Israel. I will speak about brands that directly helps the illegal occupation of the West Bank.
It is important that citizens of conscience, before boycotting a product or a brand they have a doubt about, search for themselves the true reason and repercussion of buying this product. And I don’t mean follow untrusted or doubtful links on the internet. There are NGO’s who could advice you whether you should boycott a product and reveal its true and direct repercussion on the lives of millions of Palestinians.
The Most prominent of them is of course is the BDS movement. There is also whoprofits.org
Who Profits from the Occupation is a research center dedicated to exposing the commercial involvement of Israeli and international companies in the continued Israeli control over Palestinian and Syrian land.
It is important to not just follow rumours or conspiracy theories before boycotting something. If something caught our attention, we should research it, and in the era of fast information, research was never easier to do.
The Lebanese government tries its best to ban products that are Israeli or related to Zionism. But these products that seem acceptable should also catch their attention and the attention of every conscious Lebanese.
Through its subsidiary EDS Israel, HP is the prime contractor of the Basel System, an automated biometric access control system installed and maintained by HP in checkpoints throughout the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).
HP additionally helps manufacture ID cards with the Israel government that enforces the separation. HP also provides services and technologies to the Israeli Army.
I believe that the common buyer and consumer could totally boycott HP, their computers and printers are totally replaceable.
Caterpillar is the world largest manufacturer of mining and construction equipment.
Here’s an excerpt from whoprofits.org
The company’s machines were used for the demolition of Palestinian houses in the occupied Palestinian territories, the construction of settlements, the Separation Wall and settlement infrastructure on Palestinian land, for creating roadblocks, dispersing demonstrations and as weapons.
An extensive report on their involvement with Israeli racist and unjust system is available here.
If you happen to be in the construction business, boycott Caterpillar and try to disseminate this information.
The Lebanese exclusive provider of Caterpillar products is the Jallad Group. Jallad Group should immediatly stop their business with Caterpillar or the Lebanese government should put pressure on them. How do we Lebanese, victims of Israel harsh wars and massacres, can accept this ?
Re/Max is a Colorado-based real estate firm. It is present in Lebanon and in Israel. In Israel, it has been reported by the Electronic Intifada that it only sells home to Jews in East Jerusalem. East Jerusalem is illegally occupied by Israel since 1967.
Active in the Israeli market since 1995, RE/MAX sells and rents houses and apartments in colonies reserved exclusively for Jews in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Much of that work is coordinated in an office that the Israeli subsidiary of RE/MAX runs in Maale Adumim, a major settlement in the West Bank.
I don’t know how Re/Max got past this in Lebanon, but the revelations are still new. If you plan to buy, sell, or rent a home, use another real estate firm.
I am happy the Lebanese government bans products that come from Israel. But it has to act more vigilantly as firms like HP Caterpillar and Re/Max get easily past their guard.
To sum the article up, al-Akhbar expresses concern about the incessant ceasefire violation of Israel that is happening almost daily in Gaza. The ceasefire was to be respected after a violent war that killed more than 2160 Palestinians, most of them civilians. Israel has lost 66 soldiers and 6 civilians (one thai).
Peter Lerner, “IDF” spokesman responded to the tweet.
I know nothing about Ziad Abu Ein, the minister that got killed by the Israeli “Army” during a clash, but I know one thing for sure, his death will be at best condemned by leaders of the west, and probably won’t even make waves in the western world.
In the status quo of Palestine, the late minister won’t get justice, like his Palestinian fellows. He was minister of Prisoners, what kind of country get a minister for prisoners ? A country under apartheid of course.
What a day to celebrate the Human Rights.
Now let’s imagine if he was an Israeli minister, imagine the reactions of the leaders of the Western World, the reaction of the bloodthirsty Netanyahu that would probably launch a new war in Gaza or the West Bank. The massacre “Protective Edge” was after all started after three Israeli teens were kidnapped and killed. Israel unexpectedly blamed Hamas without any proof and stopped the atrocity after killing 500 children, lives worthless to Israel.
The expected reaction of the Western World will show how much Palestinian blood is worthless, and how much overvalued is Israeli blood.
Update : Pictures on the Internet are showing an Israeli soldier choking Ziad Abu Ein, it may be the cause of his death, the autopsy is being conducted.
France is always showing off with its history, its revolution, the declaration of the rights of Man and the Citizen, the monarchy abolition. And it has the right to brag about its past, but the present France doesn’t respect itself regarding its history.
Why does France is somehow the first country to welcome the new dictator of Egypt Sisi, a leader that massacres his own people at protests. A “leader” that closes the border of Rafah, the only exit for Palestinians in Gaza that wanted to save their lives during the last Israeli massacre, and that still want to evade the Israeli blockade.
Liberté-Égalité-Fraternité is France national motto, yet it seems that this is only applicable to Frenchmen and not the citizens of the world.
Hollande isn’t the first president to develop a friendship with a dictator, nor France the first country ; Sarkozy welcomed in Paris his late friend Gaddafi, ex-bloody dictator of Libya, and it has been revealed that Gaddafi had paid for Sarkozy’s presidency campaign. Years later, Sarkozy was the first to call for international action in Libya, talk about dirty politics…
At every speech about freedom and equality, you will be laughed at, because you openly ally yourself with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other dictators of the world.
